Shyness leaves a legacy …

‘Shyness leaves a legacy even when it’s overcome. You know your soul to be an awkward thing and you can never forgive it for that. The reason you die in every hotel room you wind up in is that death is all you’ve ever thought you deserved’.

– Howard Jacobson, ‘The futility of trying to escape one’s destiny’

  1. Shyness is also a blessing, protecting you from so many stupid mistakes that the extroverts make so easily. Except on particular occasions and in particular situations I do not see shyness as a deficit to be overcome! Though like any other personality trait carried to an extreme it may be. But I’d rather live in a world or culture with more shy people than one like the “modern” Western world that favours extreme extroversion :(
