Does the Reno book come recommended?

Sure, especially if you can pick up a copy from the library. It’s stimulating prose, even if at times a little too ‘journalistic’ for my tastes, especially given the subject matter. Still, it’s worth the time it takes to read it. Speaking of time, the Steiner and Robinson volumes require – and deserve – every minute and more, as does Gillian Roses’ The Broken Middle which I’m currently trawling (if that’s the right word) my way through.
