  1. I may be interested in reading Robert Hughes’ tome on Rome as we’re thinking about visiting that great city next year. We spent some time there just after we were married and I long to see the Pantheon again.

  2. Des Bettany’s cartoons done as a Changi POW show ‘art therapy’ in action. By painting, it appears he was able to enter a different world as he painted pow’s who were generally healthy, pink skinned, well built, well shod and happy. Nothing could have been further from the truth but it allowed him to keep his sanity.
