Help! I need somebody. Help! Not just anybody. Help! You know I need someone. Help!
When I was younger so much younger than today,
I found this awesome quote the page number of which I forgot to write down because I never thought I’d need it …
But now these days are gone
I’m not so self assured
Now I find I’ve changed my mind …
So now … I’m trying to chase up a page reference to a passage from Jaroslav Pelikan’s ‘Foreword’ (pp. xi-xix) to Gustaf Aulén’s Christus Victor: An Historical Study of the Three Main Types of the Idea of the Atonement (New York: Macmillan, 1969). Unfortunately, I no longer seem to be able to lay my hands on a copy of this edition. If anyone has access to this edition, I’d be really keen to hear from you (via email is fine if you prefer).
I really want to be able to sing the next verse:
And now my life has changed in oh so many ways
My independence seems to vanish in the haze
I only have access to the 1970 SPCK edition, but it might be good enough. Want me to check it out?

Yeah. I was gonna stop by the library anyways tomorrow. I’ll take a gander. It has the 1962 Macmillan edition, do you know if Pelikan did the foreward to this one? Let me know what you are looking for. You can find my email on my blog site.

Arni and Joel,
Many thanks for your response to my request for help regarding chasing up the Pelikan quote. I am really encouraged by your willingness to do some leg work for me, and for the reminder that blogdom can be a fruitful and helpful community to be part of. On that note, I’ve received word (from another blogger, Jim, who incidentally is changing his blog layout more often than I’m changing socks these days) that the volume I’m after is also housed in the Main Library at Edinburgh University. After hearing this I contacted another blogging friend, Byron, who is currently a student at Edinburgh and he has offered to check it out for me. If Byron hits a brick wall (metaphorically, of course) I’ll be sure to let you know and set your feet-a-walking.
Many thanks again.
